Sometimes decorating for seasons can seem daunting and expensive. I like to keep my seasonal decor updates very simple, subtle and inexpensive. I pulled together 5 Simple & Inexpensive Fall Essentials to decorate with.
I think it goes without saying that pumpkins are the most popular item to decorate with in the fall. To keep it neutral and to match my current home decor, I scattered neutral colored pumpkins throughout the house. To mix it up, I like to use various sizes, colors, and textures. My little white pumpkins are real, but I also mixed in ceramic, concrete, glitter and even fabric pumpkins to provide texture and interest.
2. Fall Signs
How would we know it’s fall in Texas without a sign telling us? I’m all about DIYing seasonal decor, so I used leftover wood scraps and paint to create my “Hello Fall” sign by my fireplace. For my Pumpkin Patch pallet on the porch, I picked up a pallet from Michael’s and used various leftover wood stains to make it look old and used. For my dining area, I made a super easy and simple “GATHER” banner to hang on my chalkboard. If you’re not a DIYer/crafter, Home Goods always has the cutest Fall signs that are reasonable priced.
3. Cozy Textiles
Cozy up your home by switching out your light, bright summer fabrics with heavier cozy fall textures. I switched out a few of my pillows and found the cutest beaded pumpkin pillow at Home Goods to throw on my couch. You can also never go wrong with a plaid, fuzzy throw! Be creative and add pillows and throws other places than just your couch and bed. I used a pillow and throw in a wood crate to add texture and interest by my fireplace.
4. Fall Foliage
Switch out your summer flowers and replace them with fall foliage. I wanted to go very simple and inexpensive this year, so I picked up a few bunches of fresh Eucalyptus from Trader Joe’s. I used it to create a centerpiece on my dining table and added it to a grapevine wreath to hang on my front door. Mums are also my go-to for decorating my fall porch.
One of my favorite things about fall is scented candles! I absolutely love all the cinnamon and pumpkin scents, so I stock up on fall candles and place them throughout my home. The candles help to create a warm and cozy space and keep your house smelling delightful.
