We’ve been living in our house for over a year now, but have yet to finish our master bedroom. Let me tell you, it has driven me insane that it’s not finished, but other areas took rank for obvious reasons (like the kitchen, dining room and living room). We have bought some pieces here and there and I’ve worked on a few projects. It’s finally starting to look like a Master bedroom instead of a college dorm room…PRAISE THE LORD! Our bedroom is definitely a room of compromise, because my husband tends to like more streamline, modern pieces. I tried to stick with furniture pieces that he would like, while still keeping to my color palette of grays, whites, and bronzey golds that I wanted.
When decorating my rooms in this house, I’ve always started with an inspiration board. It helps me visualize all the pieces and see how they will look together. This is one the biggest tips I can give you starting out. You don’t even need a fancy, expensive design software. Paint and any of the Microsoft Office products are perfectly fine to use for this. They may not be as easy or look as professional, but they get the job done 🙂
For the past few years, I’ve been stuck on having a bedroom with several different shades of grey mixed with white/ivory. I really just want this space to feel relaxed and cozy right when I step into it. I also have a love for anything shiny….like a 13-year-old girl love for shiny, sparkly, glittery things. I realize that’s not the best for a bedroom that I share with my husband and also doesn’t make me look very adultish (sigh). So to satisfy my love for the shiny things, I want to bring in more subdued bronzey golds.
The room is all painted and we already have the bed, linen duvet cover and rug. We just ordered the dresser and OH MAN AM I EXCITED to get that beauty in my house! I hope to start pulling in the finishing touches and share the completed space with you soon. Please let me know what you think below!
